21 and 22 April,  CEN/CENELEC holds in Brussels, 2-day  training to discover the world of European Standards.

Yesterday they tried among other things, why and how to get involved in standardization, different solutions for different needs and new trends in European Standardization.

Today, 22 April,  they are talking about standards for the services sector, to support global trade, for intellectual property rights and the use of standardization as a compliance  tool with essential requirements by drawing up Technical Specifications.

All participants in StandarDays will also receive a certificate, to show that they have completed their training in European standardization.

EURAS Copenhagen 2015

EURAS, the European Academy for Standardisation e.V.,  will hold its 20th conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 22 to 24 June 2015 under the theme ‘The Role of Standards in Transatlantic Trade and Regulation’. The theme of the conference is “The role of standards in transatlantic trade and regulation“.

The conference focuses amongst other on TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) – a highly important and topical political project with a great number of challenges related to standardization e.g. the importance for economics, public health, innovation, regulation, the environment, etc.

One of the guest speakers on the conference theme will be Scott Steedman, Director of Standards at British Standards Institution (BSI).

The deadline for submitting papers to the conference has been extended until the 9th of March 2015.

What is happening in the European Construction Sector? Is it really recovering? Which are the re-shaping keys?

On November 19th and 20th the Euroconstruct Network meet, on a two day international workshop, a plunge into the European Construction Market and its evolution. 30 speakers coming from Italy, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, UK, and USA will analyse the new strategic scenario for 2015-2017. 19 Research Institutes will be. as well, represented.

EURAS, the European Academy for Standardisation e.V., was founded in Hamburg in 1993 by researchers from various academic fields (i.e. economics, engineering, social sciences, law, and information sciences). The foundation of EURAS was prompted by a common desire to promote and achieve progress in the academic treatment of standardisation, involving the widest possible range of disciplines.

EURAS intends to organise its 2014 conference in Belgrade, Serbia, from 8 to 10 September under the theme ‘Cooperation among standardisation organisations and the scientific and academic community’.

Building Test Expo 2014 is an international free-to-attend exhibition and forum focusing on effective testing and certification of construction products in order to promote increased innovation, quality, safety and sustainability. 

A full spectrum of attendees of  construction products manufacturers will meet with leading testing laboratories, certification bodies and testing equipment manufacturers in order to:

– Gain a full understanding of the benefits of effective construction products testing and certification.

This forum will take place in Brussels from 17-19 June. It will include the Construction Sector Network Conference, about the standardization processes of construction products sector.

This conference will be lead by the Chairmen of the main CEN Technical Committees  of the sector like, for instance CEN/TC 351, about Assessment of release of dangerous substances, CEN/TC 127, about Fire safety in buildings or CEN/TC 350, about Sustainability of construction works.

77th Euroconstruct Conference

The 77th Euroconstruct Conferences will take place in Oslo, Norway, from 12th – 13th June. This Conference is part of biannual series of presentations on the medium-term outlook for construction in Europe. EUROCONSTRUCT is the main network for construction, finance and business forecasting in Europe. 

EUROCONSTRUCT was established in 1974 by a number of specialised research institutes and consulting organisations as a study group for construction analysis and forecasting. It has since expanded from the core group to include almost all Western European countries (the European Union and EFTA) and a number of Eastern European states (EU-Accession countries). At present, EUROCONSTRUCT has member institutes in 19 European countries.

This event addresses all those involved in construction activities: producers of building materials and equipment; construction companies; designers; architects; engineers; contractors; investors; financiers; insurers; and other related professions

Fire Sprinkler International 2014

Fire Sprinkler is the UK sprinkler industry’s biannual conference and exhibition. In 2014 it will take on a truly international dimension when it will be jointly hosted in London by the European Fire Sprinkler Network and the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association.

The conference programme explores three main themes: Business sustainability with sprinklers, new sprinkler technology and developments in sprinkler standards.

The organization has started an interesting news blog, as well as included a programme of the event, with the main conferences and speakers.

Due to the importance of the topic, specially according to the standardization novelties, AFTA will follow with interest this kind of events.
